The English golfer recorded a 5&4 win over Jeev Milkha Singh in the third round to set-up a last eight clash against Thongchai Jaidee (Poulter 8/15 to win, Jaidee 6/4 on match coupon).

Poulter told PGAtour.com after his round that he knew he would get a tough game against Singh but he was pleased he made a good start to his round and was able to conserve some energy as he won by such a margin and did not have to complete the full 18 holes at Dove Mountain.

“I got off to a great start and made a couple of birdies,” said Poulter.

“And I pretty much kept my foot down the whole way around the course. I kept hitting good shots into the greens and didn’t really give Jeev much chance to kind of get his birdie in first.”

Poulter is one of a trio of English golfers who have made it into the quarter finals of the WGC-Accenture Match Play competition, as he is joined by compatriots Oliver Wilson and Paul Casey (3/1 to win title on outright coupon).

The latter is the highest seed left in the tournament and is looking to improve on his runners-up finish 12 months ago, with Casey set to play the last remaining American in the competition, Stewart Cink, in the quarter-finals (Casey 4/6 to win, Cink 6/5 on match coupon).
